In Memory

Dana Richards

Dana attended Newton-Ransom Elementary and Middle school with many of us before moving to Scranton. She was very gentle, kind, soft-spoken and was greatly loved by friends and family. Dana was killed in a domestic violence incident in Scanton on August 12, 1989 at the age of 19.

Dana was such a sweet pretty girl, always nice to me and I was the "Ugly Betty" of Abington Heights. I don't remember most people from H.S "selective memory" but I remember her.

Dana was one of my best friends at Abington. She held this light inside her that made you want to be around her. Dana could get along with everyone and brought me along for some great adventures. She had been through so much in her life and had come through it a stronger more beautiful woman.Dana and I attended Keystone College together and she was a phenomenal artist with so much talent and drive to succeed. I came to realize the impact that she had on so many peoples lives when I got together with a bunch of her friends in Scranton after hearing about the tragedy. We spent hours together exchanging funny stories about Dana and trying to deal with the anger and hatred for the man that took her away from us. The world was a better place with her in it and it angers me still that someone felt as though they had the right to extinguish that light.
